TMS Training Videos
Coil Orientation
These two videos show how to position the coil at the correct 30 to 45 degree angle while keeping the center of the coil flush against the patient’s head.
Coil Positioning
The following videos show how to move the TMS coil around on the participant head for systemic coil positioning as well as avoid coil positions that are too anterior, medial, or posterior that will miss the person’s primary motor cortex.
Bilateral Facilitation
This video shows how to instruct the patient to perform bilateral facilitation. The patient should be stimulated during bilateral facilitation if no MEPs are observed at 100% intensity while the participant is at rest. This voluntary activity may allow you to observe MEPs and classify the patient as MEP+.
Please note how the TMSO in the video is encouraging the patient during bilateral facilitation, and the TMSO is systematically repositioning the coil between stimuli.
Viewing EMG Traces
This short video shows how to change the visualisation of EMG traces to assist with MEP status determination. A lack of familiarity with TMS and EMG software is one of the most common causes of incorrect MEP status determination.
